In this episode of The Curious Realm, host Christopher Jordan ventures to Lonestar Paracon 2025 to talk with authors and researchers about the world of paranormal and cryptid research in the Lonestar state and beyond.
Our first guest is Robbin Terry, owner of the R Theater and Ashmore Estates, we discuss how he came to own these haunted properties, as well as what the renovation of these buildings has done not only for the local communities these historic buildings are in, but also how these changes have affected the spirits inside and those who visit the properties for investigation.
Our next guest is medium Victoria Mundae; we discuss a lifetime of psychic events that led her down a path of mediumship. We also consider the daily life of a medium and what it takes to be able to selectively use your energies instead of letting the spirit world and others use them without your consent.
Next, we sit down with Benjamin Wolf, Cinematographer on shows as Paranormal State, Ghost Lab, and others. We talk about the world of paranormal TV production, the challenges faced in honestly portraying paranormal events that happen in real time…as well as those that don’t “deliver”, we also get into the very real cases of exorcism that Wolf had a chance to witness that changed the way he looks at the worlds of paranormal and spirituality forever.
Our next guest is Greg Lawson, a retired sheriff of Travis County, TX. We get into the unfortunate and often sad reality faced by first responders and law enforcement…the inability to report paranormal activity without fear of losing a career. We also delve into the ins and outs of data collection onsite in an investigation, as well as the topic of when we should begin to consider the data we have gathered as “evidence” and how we should treat it once we do.
Next, we speak with author and researcher Nikki Folsom about the legends of the “People of the Fey.” These spiritual beings range throughout the world and take various forms. But what is to be made of the fact that many of the stories of other paranormal phenomena, and even cryptids such as Sasquatch, Gugwe, and others have the same rules for humanity on how to live alongside these creatures and respect them, as well as similar warnings….could it be that these creatures are also Fey and we just don not realize it?!
Next we have the opportunity to sit down with Shah Martinez, longtime audio engineer and audio recordist on broadcast paranormal shows such as Paranormal State, Ghost Labs and more. We discuss the challenges involved in recording audio in the field for broadcast during a live paranormal investigation. We also discuss the many strange equipment-related phenomena that occurred to Shah while recording the paranormal in the field, and his personal experiences with the paranormal while filming changed the way he thinks about the paranormal in his everyday life.
Our final guest is Cryptozoologist and researcher Ken Gerhard. We talk about the many cryptids found in Texas and the Texas-sized legends that surround them. We also discuss the very real possibilities of the existence of such cryptids, the available food and breeding range they may have, and the importance of conservationist efforts if we want this research to extend to future generations.
Join the Curious Realm as we venture to the 2025 Lonestar Paracon to talk with authors, researchers, and presenters about the world of the Paranormal, Cryptozoology, the Esoteric and more!
